Costa Travel Protection Plan
The last thing you want to worry about is a problem on your trip. But because the unexpected does sometimes occur, Costa offers a custom-tailored protection plan to ensure peace of mind while you cruise. It protects your investment should you have to cancel or interrupt your cruise for an unexpected reason. It protects you against baggage loss or delay. It provides medical expense coverage if you should fall ill or have an accident during your trip. And it gives you access to the assistance network of On Call International, so you can get emergency assistance 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world. Costa's Guest Protection Plan is especially important when you go to Europe, because Medicare and many private insurance policies do not cover you outside North America .
Compared to the benefits and costs of other travel protection plans, Costa's protection plan is quite a bargain, especially when you consider all the expense and heartache it can save! To purchase Costa's Guest Protection Plan, ask your travel agent for a copy of the Plan Description. It details the terms, conditions and exclusions of the plan. You pay the plan cost either upon booking or when you make your final payment. The plan takes effect as soon as Costa receives the appropriate plan cost ad lasts until you return home.
Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption Protection : If you have to cancel your cruise for certain, specified reasons (such as an injury, illness or death of you, your immediate family or your traveling companion), Costa will refund your otherwise non-refundable Costa cruise and air cancellation charges. If you have to leave your cruise unexpectedly (again, for specified reasons as described above), Costa will refund to you the unused portion, plus reimburse you for the cost of returning home.
Trip Delay and Missed Connection : If you miss the departure of your cruise due to carrier-caused delays or other specified reasons, Costa will reimburse you up to $500 for additional accommodations, meals and “catch-up” transportation expenses, as well as unused land or cruise arrangements. If you miss your cruise due to weather-related delays (of 3 or more hours), Costa will reimburse you up to $1,000 ($200/day) for these expenses.
Baggage Protection : If your bags are lost, stolen, or damaged, the plan will cover up to $1,500. If your bags are delayed or misdirected for more than 24 hours, the plan will reimburse you up to $500 for necessary personal items.
Medical Expense Coverage : The plan will reimburse you up to $10,000 for necessary medical expenses if you become injured or sick during your cruise.
Emergency Evacuation : In the event that a serious illness or injury requires transportation to a hospital or to return home, the plan provides up to $30,000 in covered medical services and supplies (coordinated by our 24-hour Assistance provider, to help ensure your safe transport).
24-Hour Assistance : One toll-free telephone call gives you access to a world-wide network of medical and travel-related professionals who will work together to solve your medical or travel-related problem.
Luggage Insurance is an important consideration, since Airlines and Costa have limited liability for loss. Travel, luggage, trip cancellation, medical and personal injury coverage are contained in an all-inclusive policy designed for Costa guests and available for purchase through your Vacations To Go cruise counselor.
Job Loss Trip Cancellation Protection: In the event you are prevented from taking your cruise because you, your traveling companion or an immediate family member booked to travel with you: (a) is involuntarily terminated or laid off by an employer, provided employment was with the same employer for at least three continuous years, and (b) notification and subsequent termination occurred following your effective date of coverage; Costa Cruise Lines will refund to you, up to your total cruise cost, for: (a) non-refundable cancellation charges imposed by Costa Cruise Lines and/or airfare cancellation charges for flights joining or departing your sea/land arrangements; or (b) the additional costs you may incur as a result of a change in the per-person occupancy rate of prepaid travel arrangements if a traveling companion cancels his/her cruise for a covered reason and you do not cancel. In no event shall the refund amount exceed the amount you prepaid for your cruise. Special Conditions: You must advise your travel agent, Costa Cruise Lines, and BerkelyCare as soon as possible in the event of a claim. No refund or reimbursement will be made for any additional charges incurred that would not have been charged had you notified these parties as soon as reasonably possible.
The benefits provided under this plan shall be in excess of all other valid and collectible indemnity or insurance and shall apply only when such other benefits are exhausted.
